ETW resin thrust washers are high-performance wear-resistant gap adjustment components developed by CSB for joints and boom sections of construction and mining machinery, mainly applied to the joint and boom positions of excavators. Manufactured from DURAPLAS®MN83 wear-resistant composite material independently developed by CSB, these washers feature a low friction coefficient, high wear resistance and impact resistance. With excellent self-lubricating and maintenance-free performance, they serve as a premium alternative to conventional steel shims, offering an optimal solution to address axial gap adjustment and wear issues at joint locations.
1. Material and Product Features
DURAPLAS®MN83 wear-resistant composite material. The washer substrate adopts CSB proprietary DURAPLAS®MN83 wear-resistant composite material, delivering low friction coefficient, outstanding wear resistance and impact resistance. It can operate stably for a long time under the harsh working conditions of excavators with heavy loads and frequent swinging, effectively resisting impact loads and abrasive wear.
Self-lubricating and maintenance-free. Solid lubricants are compounded inside the material. No lubricating grease is required throughout operation, achieving true "install and use, lifelong maintenance-free" performance, which greatly reduces daily equipment maintenance costs and downtime.
Low friction coefficient. The low-friction property minimizes swing resistance of the joint boom, enables smooth movement, cuts energy loss, and improves equipment handling flexibility and working efficiency.
Impact resistance and high wear resistance. Superior wear and impact resistance withstand frequent impact loads and reciprocating swinging during excavator operation, markedly extending the service life of the washer and the whole joint assembly.
Vibration absorption and noise elimination. The resin washer has excellent shock absorption capacity. It effectively absorbs shocks and vibrations generated during joint movement and eliminates noise caused by direct contact between metal parts, improving the operating environment and operator comfort.
Corrosion resistance and light weight. Compared with metallic materials, resin thrust washers are corrosion-resistant and rust-free, capable of long-term service in humid, muddy and sandy harsh environments. Meanwhile, their light weight reduces the load on joint positions and helps lower overall machine weight.
Axial gap & machining tolerance compensation with multiple thickness options. ETW resin thrust washers compensate for axial clearances and manufacturing tolerances at joints via different thickness specifications. Multiple thickness options are available to quickly select the proper thickness matching actual assembly clearance requirements and simplify assembly processes.
2. Typical Application: Excavator Joint and Boom Positions
The joint and boom assembly of an excavator bears the most concentrated load and suffers the most severe wear on the whole machine. At hinge joints of the boom, arm and bucket, components endure massive impact loads and high-frequency reciprocating swinging. Axial gaps tend to continuously increase due to wear, resulting in loose components, abnormal noise and deteriorated positioning accuracy. The ETW resin thrust washer is engineered to solve these pain points. Installed at the axial clearance of joint booms, it uses a self-lubricating wear-resistant supporting surface to compensate for gaps generated by wear, ensuring smooth joint movement and precise positioning. Its impact resistance and high wear resistance fully adapt to heavy-duty excavator working conditions. The low-friction design delivers smoother and more flexible swinging, while shock absorption and noise reduction properties effectively lower impact and noise from direct metal-to-metal contact.
3. Advantages over Steel Adjustment Shims
Traditional steel adjustment shims have inherent drawbacks. They are prone to rusting and suffer severe corrosion in humid and muddy environments, which accelerates failure. They possess poor wear resistance and wear rapidly under repeated impact and swinging, requiring frequent replacement. Direct metal contact generates noise and impairs the working environment. Regular greasing and maintenance are mandatory, raising maintenance costs.
In contrast, ETW resin thrust washers feature self-lubrication and maintenance-free operation. They are corrosion-resistant, rust-proof, highly wear-resistant and impact-resistant with no need for oil/grease maintenance and reduced noise thanks to low friction. They fundamentally eliminate the inherent defects of steel shims, significantly cutting maintenance costs and downtime and extending the service life of joint assemblies.
With DURAPLAS®MN83 wear-resistant composite material offering low friction, high wear resistance and impact resistance, paired with self-lubrication, maintenance-free performance, vibration & noise absorption, corrosion resistance and multiple thickness selections, CSB ETW resin thrust washers provide an efficient, reliable and economical gap adjustment solution for excavator joint and boom positions. They are the preferred component to replace traditional steel adjustment shims and enhance the service life and operational efficiency of construction machinery.
