This material has a moisture absorption of only 0.04% at RH50/23°C, which is equivalent to the moisture in ordinary plastic after drying for 12 hours at 100°C in a drier. This ensures that even if bearings made from the EPB4 material operate totally immersed in a solution for extended periods of time, the bearings will not experience seizing because water absorption has caused a change in bearing size.
EPB4 plastic plain bearings possess unbeatable load bearing ability. They can withstand a load of 90 Mpa at a temperature of 23°C, and have deformation of only 2.3% at this maximum load, which ensures that they can operate normally at high loads. EPB4 plastic plain bearings can also bear loads of over 20 Mpa even at temperatures of around 200°C—ordinary plastic plain bearings will have great difficulty matching this performance.
While EPB4 plastic plain bearings are not sensitive to the shaft material, cold-rolled steel and carbon steel are best suited for rotary motion, while stainless steel performs exceptionally well in pivoting shafts. When the load is less than 5 Mpa, a chrome-plated hardened shaft can also be considered. When the foregoing shaft materials are used, the EPB4 material has a dry friction coefficient of 0.07-0.20. And when a fluid medium provides lubrication, the coefficient of friction will remain below 0.12. As a result, EPB4 plastic plain bearings indeed offer superior self-lubricating performance.
