What are the core differences between CSB-LIN plastic linear bearings and conventional ball linear bearings, and which industry equipment are they suitable for?

CSB-LIN plastic linear bearings use an EPB13 composite sliding liner based on the DURAPLAS® system. They rely on solid self-lubrication to achieve sliding friction, which differs from the rolling friction of steel balls in ball bearings. They do not require regular grease lubrication and can operate maintenance-free in dry-running conditions. Conventional ball linear bearings rely on steel ball circulation and offer good high-speed performance, but dust, cleaning fluids, and chips can easily cause steel balls to jam, fall out, or score the shaft surface. They must be well sealed and periodically regreased. CSB-LIN plastic linear bearings have an integrated grooved debris-removal structure, so they can continue working in dusty environments. They can also directly withstand spray washing with cleaning fluids in food and pharmaceutical equipment. Their operating noise is much lower than that of ball bearings, and they tolerate installation coaxiality errors better. The EPB13 sliding liner has a continuous service temperature of -50 to 90°C, with a short-term maximum of 120°C, combining wear resistance and low water absorption. Suitable industries include food and drug packaging machinery, non-standard automation, woodworking equipment, warehouse conveying, medical testing equipment, and agricultural automation mechanisms. For example, in a food packaging reciprocating slide table, no grease bleed can be allowed to contaminate the product, so the lubrication-free characteristics of plastic linear bearings are perfectly suited. In woodworking equipment, where there is a lot of wood dust, ball bearings fail very easily, while LIN plastic linear bearings use grooves to discharge wood chips and greatly reduce the failure rate. Note that this product uses sliding friction, so its maximum operating speed is lower than that of ball bearings, and it is not suitable for continuous ultra-high-speed conditions. During selection, the PV value must also be calculated; the product of load and speed must not exceed the allowable limit of the material. If the equipment requires both precision and temperature resistance, it can be upgraded to CSB-LIN®P precision linear bearings. With TEFPLAS® wear-resistant material, they can withstand high and low temperatures from -200°C to +200°C. Their dimensions are fully interchangeable with standard ball bearings, so retrofit projects can directly replace the original ball bearing housings, reducing redesign work.
